I created a procedural bridge in Houdini as a learning project over the weekend. I've struggled to do this in the past, so I was pretty thrilled that I was able to set all of it up in a sensible clean way. The hardest bit was attaching the straight piece of rope from the ends of the bridge to the angular supporting poles holding it up. Next steps: Add the ability to vary the planks and pillars with some randomization. Missing planks or broken planks. UV texturing for wood and rope.
Continuing with my procedural wall experimentation... I threw out what I had and went back to the drawing board to try to figure out how to create the tunnel/doorways. Here's an arch being cut out, however as you can tell the bricks are too regular and unnatural. I'm still working on it, and my plan is to go in and greeble the wall, but I'm just starting to understand how Houdini's for-each loops work (They're confusing!)
